Really happy with our purchase of the 20x10 Pergola structure. The powder coat aluminum is very good quality. We added blocks beneath each main support pole to raise up enough to just barely walk underneath the short side since I am 6'3+ and the extra block height made it so I don't have to duck. I used 3/8th x 6 inch Simpson brand Strong Tie Titen HD concrete anchor screws/bolts instead of the supplied drop-in style anchors because I needed extra length since I raised it up. The Titen anchors have other advantages to drop-in anchors. The 3/8 x 6-inch anchors go through the support pole flanges, through the blocks, and into the patio slab, and the blocks have a single 6-inch anchor through the center for added stability and it worked out well (the support poles are square tubes so the center anchor does not interfere with the pole flanges). You will need a hammer drill with a 3/8th masonry bit to install your concrete anchors. Harbor Freight sells a corded hammer drill for $45 and it performed great. The rest of the structure just requires hand tools and a cordless drill to speed up the process. Another bonus is that a stock outdoor shade from Home Depot fits the pole span (just barely) so you can save money there by not having to order custom sizes. We just added one on the side where the most sun hits that area. Coolaroo 72x72 Outdoor Roller Shade in Pewter is a perfect color match. The assembly instructions were clear enough, the attachment of hardware and connecting pieces was virtually trouble-free, and it's a very approachable DIY project if you can swing a hammer (so-to-speak) and make things straight and level. A couple of capable handy workers can put this up in two days, and if you have four sets of hands it can be done in one long workday. The packaging was very good and everything arrived in just four or five days after ordering. There were some very minor dings and/or blemishes but nothing to be too concerned about. Let's say that maybe down the road the polycarbonate roof lenses begin to deteriorate, and even if you couldn't get replacements, then you still would have a sturdy and long-lasting metal structure to improvise a new roof using materials of your choice, or it could even be your future solar panel/pergola structure with some added support on the two highest corners since this is cantilever design. We really like that there's no posts on the high side so it fits our home's back patio very well and allows freedom of movement without any support poles on one side. I would recommend this product to home owners looking for a great value and protection from the sun. Our home is already feeling cooler. We love it!
