The directions says dig 3 holes and fill with cement then mount the the leg base with bolts supplied. I did not feel comfortable that the 3 post would support a cantilever design. I dug down 4 inches and poured a 3x17 cement pad ( appt 3000 lbs). That is holding it well. The design problem I see is the support and cross beams are not full pieces but smaller pieces screwed together and loose strength. Considering this is a cantilever design there is enormous force against the one side that supports the structure and therefore I believe they should have made this unit with full and thicker supports. The wind is something I have to see down the road how it affects the integrity of the structure. I have had only slight wind and there is movement in the roof. Also the roof panels are a plastic tinted material and let light thru . I have mine over my bbq and pizza oven hopefully the panels handle the heat. Over all I’m happy with the structure but wish they had solid 1 piece supports but I’m also aware that comes at a cost which is probably why they are separate pieces and lighter.
Assembly was straightforward with the labeled parts—my partner and I had it up in under 3 hours. Now we host BBQs in summer and snow-day gatherings in winter without worrying about the elements.
I love that it can be freestanding or wall-mounted—we use it as a carport and outdoor dining area, and it withstood 70 mph winds during last month’s storm without a wobble.
