After a few years of hot sun and Santa Ana winds, my original canopy fabric finally needed to be replaced. I just installed the new one, but based on my experience with the old one, I found that over time the Velcro straps became brittle from the sun exposure, and the gusts of wind would finally snap them. I added my own modification to increase the number of tiedowns between each Velcro tiedown, using beige canvas repair material, grommets, and small bungee straps which can stretch with the wind loads. I expect the replacement to last longer that the original with this simple modification.
